Our skilled team

We employ a highly qualified team bringing a wide range of skills. This ensures that our policy of practical build is constantly fulfilled.

We are also very proud of our long association with developing young people within our community. These people go on to contribute to the rural economy and generate income within the land based industries. Our record of success makes us feel that the investment we make in time and training to these young candidates ultimately proves worthwhile. A number of our past apprentices have gone on to win national awards and equally have gone on to establish themselves as supervisors, business owners in their own right and high level landscape architects. All our apprentices hope to secure a full time position with Frogheath on completion of their courses. Although this is never guaranteed, because we are so careful about our selection of candidates, it is a real possibility and has proved to be the case with a number of our current staff.

Steve Moody

Steve is a Director and the Senior Landscape Consultant. He is the driving creative force behind the company’s success.

Prior to setting up the Frogheath Landscapes with his wife Alison in the early 1990’s, Steve worked and studied at Rochford’s Nursery and Landscaping. He also trained and worked in Germany and America. He qualified at Hadlow and Sparsholt Horticultural Colleges with distinctions from both.

Steve is an excellent propagator and has an extensive, rounded plant knowledge.

His contribution towards three gold medals at RHS Chelsea Flower Show and RHS Hampton Court Flower Show has been invaluable and he has guided four first time designers to achieve gold medal status.

Jake Barton

Jake is a fantastic Supervisor and had plenty of experience within the industry before joining us in 2013. Winning the APL Young Achiever award is a testament to his abilities. He has developed enormously over the last few years and shows great leadership with his team. He is an invaluable member of staff.

Liam Kropp

Liam is a skilled subcontractor, who has been laying bricks since he was 16. His dad is a brickie of almost prima donna status, so it must be in their blood! Liam has worked with us when required since 1998. He is an integral part of the team and his detailed brickwork was key to the award winning Trugmaker’s Garden

Alison Moody

Alison, also a qualified horticulturist, is originally from Dundee and studied there gaining an SCH (Dist) then at Auchincruive NDH (Merit). She then spent a year at Blooms of Bressingham and four years at Sussex Country Gardens, Kingston. She went on to lecture in horticulture at Hadlow College before busying herself with four children. Alison is no longer ‘hands on’ with the business but is still a director and dips in and out where necessary. She also teaches horticulture to adults with learning difficulties at Oakdown House, which she really enjoys.

Edward Watson

Edward is another new recruit and we have high hopes for him and we look forward to supporting his development over the coming years. Ed studied Computer Games Programming at Uni and is a skilled programmer. After working at Bedgebury Pinetum, he realised that he wanted to work outdoors and pursue a career in landscaping. Ed joined us in April and is settling in really well.

French Students

Each year we take a few carefully selected students from French colleges (we are overwhelmed with requests being APL members).

They are highly qualified and experienced and add a certain frisson to our year! Whilst here they must complete project work and offer it as part of their major final year presentation.

This year we welcome Lucas and Arnaud.

Graham Bruce

Graham is a really good, solid Supervisor and his many years of experience in the industry shines through. He joined us in the spring of 2015 and has quickly become a valued member of the team. He works quietly and calmly and is a great role model for the younger members of the team. To date, we haven’t found anything that Graham can’t do!

Lyndon Johnson

Lyndon has been gardening, as a hobby, since he was a child.  After 10 years with a drainage company which was contracted by BT, Lyndon decided to change track and get into landscaping. Frogheath was the lucky company he chose to do his apprenticeship and he has been working with us all summer. Hard working and positive, he is a great team member and we have high hopes for him in the future. Outside of work, he has been coaching a football team for four years as well as taking care of his young and growing family.

Sarah White

Sarah has been with us since June 2010 when she started as bookkeeper. Her experience and knowledge of our business has been invaluable in our financial planning and management. She is now our Finance Manager and helps us see the bigger picture.  Sarah also has a keen interest in horses.

Adam Wesolowski

Adam is originally from Poland and his family are long-time friends of Steve and Alison.

He started working for us in 2007 and has become an invaluable member of the team. He works incredibly hard and is a solid, reliable landscaper. His strengths are in ground preparation, planting, fencing and sleeper work. Adam is currently working towards becoming a supervisor.

Sam Avard

Sam initially worked at Frogheath in 2004. As he was freshly out of college, it was his first job in landscaping. He worked regularly with Steve on and off over the next 6 years until 2010 when he moved to the USA. After volunteering at the Botanical Gardens in Conejo Valley, he went on to set up his own landscaping business in California. Although offering a full spectrum of services, he specialised in swimming pool construction and is hoping that he will be able to utilise this experience in sunny East Sussex! Sam moved back to the UK in 2016 to start a family and his baby daughter was born shortly afterwards. We are very happy to have him back at Frogheath, as a Supervisor, and to benefit from his wealth of knowledge.

Jan Jones

After a long career in event management, Jan brings a wealth of experience to the office team. She assists in the day to day running of the business for three days a week and has particular responsibility for marketing.

Peter Shelton

Peter has been a subcontractor with us for many years, previously as an expert excavator driver.  He likes to think of himself as the tidiest narrow trench digger Frogheath will ever see!  He now helps us out by driving our lorry to deliver materials to sites.  He’s also notorious within the local cricketing community!

Piotr Galadyk

Piotr is another excellent, solid landscaper who is originally from Poland but has settled into life in East Sussex with his wife. He’s been with us since 2013 and is dependable and hard working. Every company needs more Piotrs!

Charles Wesolowski

Like his brother Adam, Charles has worked for us since 2007 and is also a key member of staff.  He is very good at providing drainage solutions and is an expert excavator. He works with a wide range of machines, sculpting muddy messes into landscaped masterworks. Charles has a tremendous work ethic.

Peter Sulway

Peter was a local government officer for 32 years, firstly at the GLC and then at Tower Hamlets. Working in housing, education, finance and children’s services, he and his team played an important part in making Tower Hamlets the best performing local borough in Social Care Services in the country. After taking a career break, travelling extensively, marrying his wife and having a baby son to join his two grown up daughters, Peter came to Frogheath in August 2016 as Office Manager. His experience in project management, finance, auditing and team management have proved to be invaluable in the role. Peter has a very dry sense of humour although we believe him when he says that after working in local government for so long, he gets a buzz every morning coming into the office. No two days are ever the same and he relishes each new challenge that comes his way.
