We are delighted that we can finally share details of the two gardens we are…

Things To Do In Your Garden In February
There are plenty of things to do in your garden in February, despite it seeming like a dreary month, there’s much to look forward to.
Divide and Conquer In February
One of the things you can do in your garden in February is divide clump forming perennials. Plant new divisions in freshly dug, healthy soil (contact Frogheath if you’d like a soil consultation) and avoid overcrowding by digging up and repositioning outgrown perennials and shrubs. You can also divide snowdrops and put new plantlets in beds or containers.
Summer bedding plants such as geraniums or petunias can be sown in a propagator or heated greenhouse. Avoid planting out too early in case of a late frost. Ideally the soil temperature should be at least 4°.

Vegetable Garden Preparation In February
Seed sow indoors for summer vegetables such as herbs, peppers and tomatoes. You can prune apple and pear trees in your garden in February but avoid pruning plum or cherry trees until the summer to help prevent Silver Leaf disease.
Other things to do in your garden in February is mulching and composting. Mulch asparagus or artichoke beds and fruit trees with well-rotted manure or compost to ensure they get plenty of nutrients and moisture. Prevent the soil from overheating by refraining from “mounding” the compost around the tree trunk.
Lastly, a good weeding session will ready your vegetable beds for seed sowing when milder and planting out. Once the beds are prepared, cover in a black sheet until it’s needed.
Build Raised Beds In Your Garden In February
February is a great time for building or refurbishing raised beds in your garden. If you follow us on social media, you will have noticed we’ve been busy doing just this in several gardens recently. Not only have we been building raised beds from scratch using steel frames, we’ve also been replacing railway sleeper beds with brick walls.
When you build a new bed, you can also purchase good quality soil to fill them, this provides the right composition of elements and minerals according to what you wish to grow.

February Garden Maintenance
If you are stuck for things to do in your garden in February, consider giving everything in your garden a check, clean or once over. Clean out water butts, check your tools for any damage and have the lawn mower serviced. Sort out all your pots, give them a good clean and recycle any broken ones. It won’t be long before everything wakes up and begins to grow.
Contact the office if you would like help with garden maintenance, bed refurbishment or general landscaping building enquiries. We are happy to help.
