Young at Heart Help with Planting for RHS Badminton

2026 marks the first year of the RHS Badminton Flower Show, which replaces the traditional RHS Hampton Court Flower Show in July.  We’re really excited to be building one of the first gardens at the show – “The Cricket Pavilion Garden”, sponsored by Alitex Ltd who have been designing and manufacturing greenhouses since 1952.

After years of building award-winning show gardens for other designers, The Cricket Pavilion Garden has been designed by our Director, Stephen Moody who has 30 years of experience to call on.

The inspiration for the garden is the work Steve does with local charity Young at Heart. Inspired by the TV series “Old People’s Home for 4 year old’s”, Young at Heart is a non-residential, intergenerational community interest company (CIC), for those who are retired, providing an active day outside the home with other like-minded adults. The community club is a core part of the lives of older residents in Heathfield and the surrounding area.

Steve is a regular supporter of Young at Heart where he takes part in gardening sessions and recently the seniors worked together with some local school children from Skipper’s Hill and they have been growing the plants and creating  hanging baskets that will feature in The Cricket Pavilion Garden.

The Cricket theme speaks to the power of bringing people together so it’s only fitting that the plants that will adorn the stand were planted by the local community. Recently a reporter from Meridian News visited to find out more about Frogheath and their work with Young at Heart and this special garden.

We look forward to sharing more about this garden in the lead up to the show!
