At Frogheath Landscapes, we understand that sometimes the best feature of a garden is what lies beyond it. In this project, the design was led by the breathtaking rural views surrounding the property. With wide open skies and rolling countryside on the doorstep, our role was to shape a garden that complemented the landscape rather than competing with it.
Designed to Enhance the View
This garden features a seamless flow from the house to the countryside beyond. The adjoining patio was carefully constructed with warm-toned paving and traditional raised brick planting beds, which provide colour, seasonal interest, and structure close to the house—without blocking sightlines.
Beyond the patio, the lawn was intentionally kept open and uncluttered, creating a feeling of space and drawing the eye toward the horizon. Subtle level changes and soft contouring allow the garden to sit gently in the landscape, avoiding anything too formal or dominant.
Key Design Features:
- Raised brick planters – Positioned near the house, these beds add depth and seasonal planting without interrupting the view.
- Open lawn – A generous, clear lawn acts as a visual “runway” to the surrounding scenery, making the space feel larger and more connected to nature.
- Low-impact planting – Perimeter borders are kept low or softly mounded, using grasses, perennials, and native species to echo the wild character beyond.
- Natural materials – Brick, sandstone, and timber details blend seamlessly with the rural setting and the architecture of the house.
- Outdoor living with a view – The patio is a perfect spot for outdoor dining or morning coffee, with nothing to distract from the wide vistas.
Built with Sensitivity and Style
Every garden we create is a response to its setting. In this case, it was about framing the view, not filling the space. By keeping the garden pared back and well-proportioned, we allowed the surrounding landscape to shine—while still delivering a welcoming, well-crafted outdoor space for our client to enjoy year-round.
