narrow semi rural garden

Narrow Garden Design & Build

This project involved the transformation of a long, narrow garden set within a picturesque semi-rural location. The garden presented a number of challenges due to its sloping nature, which limited access and made the space difficult to use effectively.

Our goal was to turn it into a practical, attractive and inviting outdoor environment that could be enjoyed throughout the year.

Overcoming The Narrow Slope

To address the slope, we designed and built a series of carefully proportioned steps that lead gently down to the lower areas of the garden. These steps not only improve accessibility but also help define the garden’s different zones, creating a sense of flow and structure.

Key Features

A central feature of the design is a paved patio area, ideal for relaxing or entertaining family and friends. From here, a series of pathways branch out to connect the key elements of the garden, making it easy to move around while encouraging exploration of the space. Raised timber beds were installed to provide a practical and visually appealing solution for planting. These beds offer excellent growing conditions for flowers, herbs, or vegetables, while also adding depth and height variation to the design.

We also installed a greenhouse, providing the homeowners with a dedicated space for propagation and year-round growing. It adds both a functional and traditional touch to the garden, complementing the rural setting.

This project reflects our commitment to working with gardens of all shapes, sizes, and terrains. Based in Burwash, we serve clients across Kent and Sussex, all within a 25-mile radius. With over 30 years of experience in hard and soft landscaping, we specialise in creating tailored garden spaces that are not only beautiful but also built to last.
